Board of Appeals
Overview
The Board of Appeals is a quasi-judicial body created and regulated under Wis. Statutes and the City of Glendale Municipal Code. The purpose of the board is to hear and decide appeals where there is an alleged error in any order, request a variance, interpretations, substitutions, unclassified uses, and temporary uses. The board is comprised of five members and alternants, appointed by the Mayor for three year terms of office, subject to Common Council.

Who May Appeal: Appeals or applications to the Board may be made by:
- The owner, mortgagee, purchaser under a land contract, optionee or occupant under a written lease for one (1) year or more of the property for which relief is sought.
- Any officer (other than the Zoning Administrator), department, board or bureau affected by a decision or order of the Zoning Administrator.
- Any person aggrieved and whose use and enjoyment of property within the City is directly and adversely affected by a decision or order of the Department of Inspection, Zoning Administrator or the requested Board action.
Timing of Appeals: Appeals shall be filed within thirty (30) days after the date of receipt of the written decision or order from which the appeal is taken by filing in duplicate a notice of appeal with the Zoning Administrator.
Application Deadline: Application deadlines are 45 days prior to a scheduled meeting or anticipated specially called meeting. Timing of the application deadline allows for preparation and submission of the required class 2 notice and notices to surrounding properties. Please allow approximately 4-8 weeks for your proposal to be processed.
Meeting Dates: Meetings of the board shall be held at the call of the chairperson and at such other times as the board may determine.
Fees: A non-refundable, $250 processing fee must be submitted prior to the processing of the appeal application.
Review: The City of Glendale Police, Public Works, Building Inspection, and Engineering Departments and the North Shore Fire Department also might review and provide an opinion on the variance request.
Attendance: Attendance at this meeting is mandatory.
