Now Than Later Selling your house can be hectic enough ... deciding to sell, finding a new home, financing, packing, moving, changing jobs or schools, closings! It's enough to push some to their limits. However, there is one thing you can do to give you peace of mind throughout the entire process ... Get your Code Compliance Inspection! As soon as you decide to sell, contact the Code Compliance Department to obtain the application form. Forms are available at City Hall, City Services or directly online at www.glendale-wi.org/code.doc. The sooner the Code Compliance Inspection is done and all violations are corrected, the less you'll have to worry about. Many times, a realtor will suggest that you order the inspection only after you have received and accepted an offer to purchase. The City does not recommend this practice for a number of reasons... One: Repair orders could be extensive requiring considerable time to complete. Two: Contractors are rarely available at short notice. Three: Closings usually take place at or before the typical 30 days. Four: Code Compliance Certificates are good for twelve months from the date of issuance. Failure to comply with the ordinance requirement could result in the issuance of a citation for either the homeowner or the realtor. Furthermore, anyone occupying a building without a valid Code Compliance Certificate is also in violation of this Ordinance. Ordering and completing the Code Compliance inspection and repair orders helps to insure a safe transition to your new home. Do it today! For more information, check out the City website at www.glendale-wi.org to download the Code Compliance Application Form and to find additional information on Code Compliance requirements. You may also contact the Code Compliance Inspector at (414) 228-1711. Get your blood pressure checked the last Tuesday of every month between 2:30 and 4:00 p.m. at the North Shore Library, 6800 North Port Washington Road, Glendale. Please note: There will not be a blood pressure clinic on December 25. Clinics will resume on January 29, 2008. |
