Board of Appeals

The purpose of the Board of Appeals is to review proposals that do not meet the City of Glendale Ordinance requirements such as a front yard setback, a side yard setback, a rear yard setback, etc., due to unusual conditions of a specific property, or to appeal the decision of an administrative officer.

Appeal Application

A Board of Appeals Application (PDF) is due by the 3rd Wednesday of the previous month before a meeting. Special requirements are as follows:
  1. Failure to meet this deadline will push back a variance request by an additional 4-6 weeks.
  2. A Board of Appeals application form must be completed, and a non-refundable, $250 processing fee must be submitted prior to the processing of the appeal application.
  3. Meeting the submission deadline does not guarantee that your proposal will be placed on the upcoming meeting agenda. Please allow approximately 4-8 weeks for your proposal to be processed.
  4. The City of Glendale Police, Public Works, Building Inspection, and Engineering Departments and the North Shore Fire Department also might review and provide an opinion on the variance request.
  5. Attendance at this meeting is mandatory
